Online dating is increasing in popularity and today it is very possible to reach thousands of single people, not just in your country, but from all around the world.
As the traffic and users of the Internet increases, scamming cases also increase in numbers. By scam we are refering to people being tricked into believing that someone has true love intentions and later on show the opposite, that is some ugly lie. The lie can cost you money and time and you can loose trust in using online media ever again to find a potential partner. We encourage you to use the Internet unless you attract people you want to date in places you are at the moment.
Of course living close to each other, being able to meet in person after writing each other love letters in a short span of time, mean that you easily can avoid being scammed. Even people who live in your town can scam you so either way, try to meet people from online dating you have never seen in the real life, with an open mind. You can´t really be sure who is behind all the sweet words. And it is human to fall in love online - but dont let your emotions guide you, please just be open minded and keep to the facts of what kind of person you want. Looks are not everything, especially never for long term relationships. On the other hand, it is common for men, striving for the best looking. Still, someone you might find attractive, might be unattractive to others - so you are really on your on and therefore your feelings can both be your best friend and worst enemy.
Here is a check list before meeting a potential romance:
>- Have you seen the person on webcam?
>- Have you spoken to the person on the phone?
>- Are you willing to spend money or spend time in order to meet the person you are communicating with?
>- Do you share any interests beside from sex?
HOW TO AVOID GETTING SCAMMED: (people from a long distance mostly!)
Frankly, the chance of someone getting scammed is always present and it will happen. This is a risk of life you must be willing to take. First of all you can insist not paying money to any future potential dates who claim they need a money transfer.
Here is a list of how a scammer is acting online:
- The scammer usually has professional pictures, not any bad pictures
- The scammer very fast tells you that he/she loves you
- The scammer often gets into accidents, loose her phone or is unlucky in any way
- The scammer wants to visit you first but does not have all the money for it
- The scammer dont have a webcam but might, in some cases, want to talk to you on the phone offline or online.
- The scammer makes mistakes asking for the same things more than once, for example, how is your kids? Or where do you work? Or anything similar
- The scammer writes great letters to you - often ending with "love always" or "yours foever"
- The scammer is almost always a pretty young person who wants to date a much older person.
- The scammer tend to say that appearance is not important and proofing how you look like is not so important. Either way you get to know very fast that you have nice looks.
REMEMBER:
There is always a date for you online and dont fall into traps like thousands of people are doing every day. You can always write a new person or getting contacted by a new person. Just join places with "plenty of fish in the sea".
IF YOU WANT TO PAY FOR YOUR ONLINE DATE VISITING YOU:
Its a risk - but understandable because a lot of poor people are dating online from Internet Caféterias and don´t even own a PC themselves. They might have good intentions. If they have wrong intensions, pay good attention:
People who want money for ticket or passport: Get contact information on the places where you can buy it in your name. Whatever happens, try to avoid sending money directly to the person. If you take you want to take an online relationship to the next level, try to insist visiting that person first. Save money every month to get enough money to visit him/her - this is the best solution since you are going to do it sooner or later, right? YES
